Aims

Aims

The archive project is one part of the Mount Blair Community Development Trust’s Action Plan 2013 -2018 for helping to improve the Glenshee and Strathardle areas, which can be viewed here. However, the explicit aims of the archive are:

  • To encourage and facilitate learning and appreciation of the local heritage by all sections of our community
  • To involve the local community and those connected with the area in developing and managing an archive and sharing their knowledge with others
  • To establish a resource that will ensure these materials are available for future generations.

Learning Resource

We want to create a resource which can help anyone learn about the history of Glenshee and Strathardle. This resource is already made up of contributions of material and information from the community, and we are always looking for more contributions.

Community Participation

Involving the community is central to this project and there are a number of ways in which we wish to make this happen. Firstly, once the funding period ends in July 2016, the project will be handed to a group of volunteers. Therefore, we are currently looking for interested people to help with a number of tasks. These tasks are varied, from working on the website (full support and training given) to transcribing some documents which are hard to read, to helping create displays. Lastly, we hope that people can bond over their mutual interest in the past.
