Prince Ardle's Grave, c. 1920. Prince Ardle (or Ard-Fhuill) was believed to have been a Caledonian of noble blood who was slain fighting off a Danish invasion. This is one theory behind how Strathardle got it's name: the strath (broad mountain valley) of Ard-Fhuill, making Strath Ard-Fhuill, and then Strathardle.
