These newspaper articles came to the archive in small parts. They have been put together as best as possible. The railway dd not go ahead. It is interesting to note from the article “no other road in Scotland, considering its length has so much traffic” when discussing the Bridge of Cally to Kirkmichael road; and that “no less than 70 vehicles a day had been counted passing Kirkmichael”. It would be interesting to find out why the proposed light railway did not go ahead.
Mr Panton who is mentioned in these articles owned Dalnagairn Lodge, just outside and to the west of Kirkmichael village.
