Volunteer!

Passionate about history? We need you!

‘How can I help?’

There are a number of ways in which you can help the project besides contributing your wonderful photos and stories!  By volunteering, you will be helping to record the history of this area for future generations and will be enriching this public learning resource.  Please get in touch with the archivist – archivist@mountblairarchive.org – if you would like to:

1. Assist with transcriptions

We need people to help transcribe oral history recordings, plus letters and document from as far back as the 1700’s.

2. School project

There are plans to work with Kirkmichael Primary School in early 2014 on a project that explores how the First World War affected the area, with reference to the war memorial.

3. Suggest and plan exhibitions

The website is a great way to access the archive for anyone who has access to the internet. However, some people do not and for this reason – plus the fact we wish to give people regular chances to meet and discuss history – we would like to hold exhibitions of archival across the Mount Blair area. This could be a general exhibition, or could be based on a theme – for example, the changing types of employment in the area over time.

4. Create learning materials

We would like to create learning materials based on information and material gathered – for example, a booklet or a walking tour, which provides the historical context of certain places along the route of the walk.
