The Red Rover Poem by Donald McIntosh 1852

Pat Townsend

This poem was given to Ali Constable by a neighbour in Balintuim.

I have traced Donald McIntosh and his family in the 1851 & 1891 Census for Kirkmichael. I have extracted the entries and include them.

In 1851 he was a Surfaceman on the Strathardle Road.  He had five children all born in Kirkmichael

He wrote this poem on 17 June 1852, age 37.

In the 1891 census his occupation was Church Officer age 75.
