Ian Fleming novelist

I have posted this on Kirkmichael Parish History Past and Present . I don’t know whether I am addressing the same audience!

An interesting connection that I have not seen aired here ( admittedly I haven’t been a member until recently). Ian Fleming , of ‘James Bond’ fame has his origins in Kirkmichael and district. His great grandfather John Fleming 1806 -1874 farmed at Middleton Of Dalrulzion . John Fleming married Anne Macintosh 1808-1960. Their nephew James Mackintosh married Marjery Reid ( Currie , Peddie – of which more will be revealed if any one is interested!). Marjery was the illigitimate daughter of Margaret Peddie ( see old photo in previous post). Hence any one with a Reid , Peddie , Webster ancestry can claim a distant relationship.
